GUM was the first student magazine ever to be published in Scotland, way back in 1889. Since that time the magazine has gone from strength to strength – expanding the brains of its readers with politics, science, comedy, art, fashion, music, travel, sport and satire. GUM is a part of and is partially funded by Glasgow University Students’ Representative Council, although it retains editorial independence. It is one of four student media organisations within the SRC, who provide both a service and opportunities to students at the University and to the local community. All opinions are those of the writers, and do not necessarily reflect those of the SRC or the GUM team.
